An Ambleside year is a year of the Ambleside Online programme, not a reader's age. Year 0 is its first year, and a book used over several years shows the span. The ages beside it are that band offered two grades up and none down, which is how we offer a band; they are a placement, not a reading measure.

This book is the account of a woman living in the South during the Civil War. It amazes me how resilient she was in the midst of hardship. It's such a raw, unfiltered book from a primary source with facts that are hard to find nowadays, in our censored, inoffensive world. Hopefully I can write a more in depth review later, but for now, I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.
