The first part of Hegel’s Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences, first published in 1817 and often known in English as the “Lesser Logic.” Hegel examines the fundamental forms and categories of thought and develops his dialectical account of how concepts lead beyond their apparent limitations into increasingly comprehensive forms of understanding. It should not be confused with his larger Science of Logic.
